Essential Oils.
How to use essential oils.
Essential oils can be used in a number of ways around the home. In a blend for massage to soothe muscular and emotional tension, in an oil burner to disperse the smells around the room, as an inhalation to clear congestion or headaches, added to the bath for a luxurious treat, even as a perfume. Always use safely and never apply directly to the skin without a carrier oil to dilute them.
Massage: To every 10ml of carrier oil add 2-5 drops of essential oil. So in one of our 50ml bottles of carrier oils add 10-25 drops. If you are using a blend of essential oils use 2-5 drops per 10ml in total not each.
Oil burner: Add 2-10 drops of one or more essential oils to the bowl of your oil burner once it has been filled with water, light the candle and enjoy the fragrance dispersing.
Bath: Add to 2-5 of one or more essential oils to the bath as the warm water is running, this way the oil evaporates into the steam. Adding the oil to 1tbs of full fat milk will help the oil disperse fully in the bath.
Inhalation: Add 2-10 drops of one or more essential oil to a bowl of hot water, cover your head with a towel and inhale.
We also have aromatherapists available for massages and treatments at our health centre in Moseley, which can be booked on request. Please ask for more details at the counter.
Use half this amount of essential oil around children over 3yrs and pregnant women.
